Reindeer

Today we talked about reindeer.  My son named his hand print reindeer "Cutie" and "Goodie".  Be sure to check out www.reindeercam.com to see live footage of some reindeer and Santa stops by sometimes as well.
I know my posts this season haven't been overly interesting, but around Christmas time we pretty much do the same things each year so to keep my focus on the activities and not blogging so much I will give links for my previous posts.  :)

Reindeer Preschool Theme

We have been taking turns being sick at our house and I guess it is my turn now.  Thankfully all of the reindeer things I have were already on hand so I just had to pull them out and let my son have fun.
First off you can check out the Reindeer Cam to see what some reindeer are doing right now.

This Christmas Pack has a fun reindeer color matching game.
The Virtual Vine has a lot of fun reindeer activities including a flannel board story I like to use about Rudolph's nose.

This Reindeer Pack is where most of my activities came from.  It has a fun little story and all kinds of reindeer activities for preschoolers.
My boys had such fun making little paper plate reindeer masks last year that I helped my son make another one this year.  He decided to have an orange nose (mostly because I didn't have any red pom-poms)
We watched Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and sang the song.  My son kept his nose on while he watched the movie.

Reindeer

My son wasn't feeling very well today, but we were still able to do some preschool activities.  Today's theme was reindeer.  Check out some reindeer in action at Reindeer Cam.

We did a lot of activities from 3 Dinosaurs Reindeer Pack.  Including a cute little book about reindeer.

This cute coloring page came from this coloring page pack.

This is also a fun reindeer unit that we have activities from.

Here is this cute dot-to-dot reindeer
We sang Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.  Then we made these fun little paper plate reindeer's with my other two sons. We traced each of their hands on brown paper.  Then we cut the center out of a plate and they colored the edge of it brown.  Then we taped the hands onto the top of the plate for the antlers.  Then we found pom-poms and taped them to their noses and they became reindeer.

You can check out our reindeer activities from 2011 here, 2010 here, and 2008 here.

Reindeer

Today we talked about reindeer.  I actually hadn't planned on doing this theme yet, but my son has been asking me to do reindeer stuff since Wednesday so we switched things up.  You can check out our reindeer theme from last year here.

Of course we have been singing, "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and we watched the classic movie with the same title.
We did a fun flannel board story about Rudolph's nose color.
We did the Reindeer Hokey Pokey. ( my little one who is 21 months thought this was a hoot)

We did this fun Hand print and Paper Plate Reindeer.  I think it turned out cute.
You can find this fun nose matching game in this Christmas Pack.
This color by the shape reindeer can be found in this R is for Reindeer Unit.
I found this cute craft on Pinterest.  My son picked out the eye and nose colors.  He told me the one with the orange nose is a boy and the one with the pink nose is a girl.
If you are looking for more ideas you can see what we did in 2009 and 2008.

Reindeer

We will not be doing preschool again until the beginning of January.  I may post about small activities here and there if I get a chance between now and then.
Gathering Time:
Sing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
Focus Activities:
Handprint Reindeer I realized that I didn't have any brown paint when we went to do this activity and my boys were much more intersted in having fun putting their painted hand on the paper than actually making a reindeer, but it's a really cute idea.
I cut out all these pieces, but my oldest did this one all by himself.  :)
