Groundhog's Day

It's Groundhog's Day and so we celebrated with a few activities.

2 Teaching Mommies has a fun and very cute Groundhog mini unit.
 Can Do Kinders has a cute printable poem.  You cut up the words and make a pocket poem.
 We just worked on our on the floor.  My son then read most of the poem by himself.  :)
 I decided to try this 100 Chart that is in the shape of a groundhog when you color it.  My son did need a little help understanding what to do, but he did a pretty good job. I thought it was a fun way to get him more familiar with some of the higher numbers.

Groundhog's Day

Gathering Time:
Show a picture of a groundhog
Explain what Groundhog’s Day is (use pop-up puppet)
Sing “I’m a Little Groundhog”  tune of “I’m a Little Teapot”
Focus Activities:
Pretend to be a groundhog popping out of a laundry basket or a large cardboard box- use headband
