Dinosaurs

Today we talked about dinosaurs!
Preschool Express has a cute story called Dotty the Dinosaur which also is a color story.
There a several dinosaur packs that are free and fun to use.  The picture below is some activities from 3 Dinosaurs pack.
These activities are from Over The Big Moon's Dinosaur pack.
Confessions of a Homeschooler has a fun Letter D/Dinosaur printable pack.
We made these finger puppets with my Cricut and had fun playing with them again.
File Folder Fun has a cute Dino Color matching game.
We love to read books about dinosaurs.  Pictured below are some that we own, but there are lots of other great dinosaur books out there too.
We got out our plastic dinosaurs and played with them too.  My son also enjoys playing Dinosaur Train games on pbskids.org.
You can check out what we did in 2013 here, 2010 here and here.

Letter D/Dinosaur Preschool Theme

Today we talked about the Letter D and dinosaurs!  Such a fun theme for my little boy and so many great ideas out there to pick from.
Visit Starfall to see their letter D activities

Here are a few activities from our Letter D as in dinosaur pack from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
There are lots of great dinosaur packs for preschool/kindergarten.  We also did some from Over the Big Moon.  Lots of great activities besides these as well.
3 Dinosaurs also has a lot of dinosaur printables.
We also did a dinosaur shape matching activity you can find here.
We did a fun flannel board story, "Dotty the Dinosaur".  It is a good story about colors.  My son helped me put the correct color of dinosaur up at the appropriate time.
I made these dinosaurs with my Cricut Machine and we made them into stick puppets. My son loves doing this and making up his own stories and playing with them.  Great for the imagination!
We did this cute paper plate dinosaur.  My son loves to paint as always! There are templates for different dinosaurs on the link.
Here is a list of great dinosaur books.  I know my kids love the "How Do Dinosaur" books and also "Dinosaur Vs. the Potty".

Field Trip- Dinosaur Park

I am going to try to do a little field trip with my boys once a week.  Just something that gets us out of the house and is fun for all of us this summer.  Today we went to a Dinosaur Park and museum that isn't too far from where we live.  My oldest had gotten two free passes during the school year so it ended up being a sweet deal for us.

All of my children had a wonderful time and my husband and I did too.  My husband was a huge dinosaur lover growing up and I think that got passed down to our boys.  My 4 year old was a little weary of the noises that they had going on around the park.  He also was not a fun of the robotic dinosaurs they had inside their museum, but he was eager to read all of the plaques that told the name and information about each dinosaur.  My oldest told me that he didn't want to be a personal trainer anymore, but a paleontologist.

Dinosaur Week

We kicked off our Dinosaur theme with my son's third birthday party.
Here are the decorations.
I made a dinosaur cake that was super easy and cute!  You can watch an instructional video here.

We also ate Dinosaur Chicken Nuggets for dinner.  It was a lot of fun.  My son receive some plastic dinosaurs for his birthday.  He and his older brother have had fun playing with them.
Actually, his younger brother loves them too! :)   The dinosaur quilt was made by my mother-in-law for Luigi (my 3 year old) when he was a baby.
Today we talked about the letter "D".  Here are some of the activities we did that are listed below.  Thanks to Erika at Confessions of a Homeschooler for her awesome alphabet printables!
