Reindeer

Today we talked about reindeer.  My son named his hand print reindeer "Cutie" and "Goodie".  Be sure to check out www.reindeercam.com to see live footage of some reindeer and Santa stops by sometimes as well.

I know my posts this season haven't been overly interesting, but around Christmas time we pretty much do the same things each year so to keep my focus on the activities and not blogging so much I will give links for my previous posts.  :)

Candy Canes

Today we talked about candy canes.  My son was really excited about this topic!

He enjoyed hanging some on our Christmas Tree.

He also enjoyed painting a candy cane green and red.

Turkeys

Today we talked about turkeys!

I actually didn't take any pictures today other than the one above with my son and his paper plate turkey, but I have lots of links to share with all kinds of turkey activities.  We did some, but not everything.  There are a lot of fun ideas to go along with this theme.

Pumpkins Preschool Theme!

My favorite Fall Theme is pumpkins!

We went to a pumpkin patch as a family last night so we were all ready to talk about pumpkins the rest of the week.  My older children will be out of school Thursday and Friday so we won't have formal preschool then, but we will be painting our pumpkins.

 Here is my son at the pumpkin patch.  He found a cute little pumpkin that he thought looked just the right size for him.

We measure the pumpkin in all the ways we could think of.  How tall it was, how wide, how long the stem was, and so on.

 My son wanted to roll the pumpkin across the kitchen floor and measure how far it rolled so we did that too.  :)

We love to do "Five Little Pumpkins".  I usually do it once with these visuals and then again and have them do the finger actions and roll around like a pumpkin at the end.

 We talked about the life cycle of a pumpkin using sequencing cards.  I have not been able to locate the link I found these cards at years ago, but this is a fun idea we actually did last year with the pumpkin life cycle.

Easter Preschool Theme 2014

Today we talked about Easter!  We watched this short video clip about Jesus Christ. We also sand "I Stand All Amazed"  the kids have been learning this song at church so he was able to sing along.

My son really wanted to make an "Easter Frog".  I don't know what an Easter Frog is, but apparently he does.  :)  I drew a picture of his blankie frog that he sleeps with and he painted it.

Letter E/Easter Eggs

Today we talked about the letter E and Easter Eggs!  This wrapped up going through the alphabet for the second time this preschool year.

Here is an egg shaped lacing card I made many years ago.  It has held up well.  I used cardstock, patterned paper, eyelets, a hole punch, yarn, and tape on the ends of the yarn.

 The big event was coloring eggs!  I decided to give a new method a try that I found on pinterest using crayons while the egg is still real warm.  My son had a good time.  I was worried about him hurting his hands since the egss were still hot so I had him wear gloves and it worked well.  Here is the link. 

 He had fun, but kind of got tired so after two eggs by himself I did a couple with him and then he asked his dad to draw on a couple.

Bunny Preschool Theme

Today we talked about bunnies!  We read "You're My Little Bunny". My son enjoyed it so much we read it twice.

 Here is an Easter Pack with some bunny related printables.

 This is a cute little printable book called "Five Little Bunnies".  

 I let my son choose a bunny craft he wanted to do from several options.  He picked a bunny puppet. He wanted a blue pom-pom for the nose.

Baby Chicks Preschool Theme

We are gearing up for Easter.  Today we talked about baby chicks.

 We read "Chicks Run Wild" .  We also watched a video of a chick hatching from it's egg and some fluffy chicks walking around.

My son pretending to be a chick hatching from it's egg and then continued to pretend to be a chick while we did some other activities. I made this chick lacing card a while ago using cardstock, fun paper, brads, a hole punch, yarn and tape.

Letter G/Green Preschool Theme

Today we talked about the letter G and the color green!  We won't be doing preschool on Monday so I thought this would be our tribute to St. Patrick's Day.

My son wanted to make a green caterpillar for a craft.  Here is his art work.

 We also went on a "Green Hunt"  searching our house and outside for green things.  Here he found his Kermit the Frog.

He also has this blankie, green frog that my mom made him when he was born that he sleeps and snuggles with.

We had a great time with this little valentine craft.  My son cut out paper in any shape and size that he wanted and then glued it onto a paper.  After he did that I cut it into a heart shape.
