Letter G/Green Preschool Theme

Today we talked about the letter G and the color green!  We won't be doing preschool on Monday so I thought this would be our tribute to St. Patrick's Day.

Over the Big Moon has a St. Patrick's Day pre-k printable pack.

My son made a "My Green Book" and helped me read it.

This St. Patrick's Day Preschool Pack has fun green and festive activities.

 My File Folder has a "Love the Irish" file folder color matching game.

 2 Teaching Mommies also has a St. Patrick's Day Pack worth looking at.  

My son wanted to make a green caterpillar for a craft.  Here is his art work.

 We also went on a "Green Hunt"  searching our house and outside for green things.  Here he found his Kermit the Frog.

He also has this blankie, green frog that my mom made him when he was born that he sleeps and snuggles with.

Birthday Preschool Theme

My son's 4th birthday is this week so we kicked the week off with a birthday theme for preschool!

We read Dr. Seuss' "Happy Birthday To You!" book.

Letter L/Lorax Preschool Theme

Today we talked about the letter L and "The Lorax" by Dr. Seuss!

We enjoyed reading the book and plan to watch The Lorax Movie this afternoon.

Here is a cute finger puppet.  There are several Lorax printables at this link.

 My son has had a lot of fun with this finger puppet.

This is a fun mustache that my son painted.

 I taped a straw to it after the paint dried and he has had fun pretending to be the Lorax with it.

2 Teaching Mommies has an entire Lorax Printable Pack that we used.

Since we were focusing on the letter L my son had fun practicing writing the letter L on our lined white board.

This is a real cute Lorax.  My son had a lot of fun painting him.

 Since we are focusing on the letter L with the Lorax I cut out an L and my son glued pom-poms onto the L to make them look like truffula trees and drew trunks on it.  Then we took the Lorax he had painted and glued together and glued it and the letter L onto some construction paper.

Cat in the Hat Preschool Theme

Today we read "Cat in the Hat" by Dr. Seuss.

 There are a lot of Dr. Seuss related activities, but I think the Cat in the Hat has the most things available out there when it comes to this author.

Here is what the rhyming hat game looks like finished.

This Reading Mama has a cute hat to cut out.  I cut out the outline of the hat and let him cut out the stripes and the stripes of white paper.

My son wasn't interested in using the ears, but he decided making a headband hat would be a good idea.  We glued it onto construction paper to make it a little sturdier.

One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish Preschool Theme

Today we read "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish" by Dr. Seuss.  All week we will be doing things with Dr. Seuss books in celebration of his birthday which is on March 2nd.  We love many of his books and it is a great excuse to focus on some fun activities to go with the books.  Check out Seussville's website for lots more fun.

After we read the book it was time to do some activities.  We used colored goldfish for several activities today.  My son sorted the goldfish by color.

Obseussed has lots of Dr. Seuss activities (as you might imagine).  One that we used today was to help count goldifsh in the bowls with the corresponding numbers.

 Homeschool Share has lots of fun printable packs for several books.  Here are some activities to go a long with this book.

Here is a Dr. Seuss Cootie Catcher.  We had fun folding it and playing with it.  Inside are quotes from different Dr. Seuss books.

We made a little fish craft.  I traced my son's hands and then we glued them onto paper we'd colored on to make it look like they were in water.  He wanted his fingers closed because he thought that looked more like a fish than having his fingers apart.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas Preschool Theme

Today we read "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" by Dr. Seuss.

After we read the book we did a few Grinchy activities.

This is a freebie for a little bit older than my guy, but looks fun here.

Naturally my son wanted to paint his Grinch.

Then I cut it out for him.

We made Grinch Crinkle Cookies. My son enjoyed helping.  He put the cookie dough in the powdered sugar and thought that was great fun.

My cookies don't look very green because I was really low on green food coloring.

We also watched the cartoon of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".  After that we took turns hiding the Grinch around the house and having the other person find him.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

Today we read "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" by Dr. Seuss.  We also watched the cartoon. My son loves this book and has read it to me a couple of times now this year which is a fun switch for me and good reading practice for him.

My son did several Grinch activities.  There are several here and I also found a pattern one here.
