Letter O/Ostrich Preschool Theme

Today we talked about the Letter O for Ostrich!
We did activities from 1+1+1=1's ostrich printable pack.
We looked at Ostrich facts and videos here.  We used parts of this ostrich craft, but used an o instead of the body.

Owls Preschool Theme

Today we had a good time talking about owls.
There are some very cute printables of owls out there.  I think this one may just be the cutest printable pack I have seen.
Totally Tots has  great list of owl activities including this fun owl.  We were out of cheerios to make into an o, but we had apple jacks.  My son wanted a white owl so he didn't color it.
This is a cute number tracker activity with owls.
We changed up this craft a little, but it still the same idea for a paper plate owl.  I used brackets instead of having my son glue the wings to the paper plate.  I did this last year with my middle son and I remember him wanting the wings to move.
We also watched a video clip that I found here along with some more great owl activities.

You can also check out last year's post about owls here.

Letter O/Octopus Theme

Today we talked about the letter O for octopus!  My computer is functioning again.  However, we stuck to doing another letter since I knew that I was ready to go with that.  We are chugging right along through the alphabet and my son is enjoying that.
Here is the link to Confessions of a Homeschoolers Letter O octopus printables.
We talked about how octopus have 8 tentacles and I put up this little flannel board guy.  He kind of looks more like a jellyfish now that I look back on him.
We also did this fun O/octopus craft.  I don't have a link to an original source for this idea, but I have seen it floating around various places on the internet.  We cut out o and 8 strips of paper.  Then my son glued cheerios onto the strips and we glued the strips to the O and viola an O octopus!
Check out Starfall's letter O activities too.

Also you can see my post about octopus that I did last year with my middle son.

"O" is for Octopus

I am trying to get back into the swing of things here.  After being out of town for a week for Christmas and then again a few days for New Years I think I'm starting to get back into a routine of things!  I am behind on having lesson plans actually planned out though!  My boys have been begging to do preschool each day this week.  We finally got around to doing the letter "O" today.

Once again, I used materials from Confessions of a Homeschooler's letter O stuff.  Fun, fun.  I also have a flannel board octopus we put up and we counted his eight tentacles.  I am hoping to get back on top of things this week.
