Spider Themed Birthday Party

I know it seems like a weird time of the year to be posting about spiders, but my oldest son had a birthday just before Christmas and he wanted a spider theme and I thought I would share what I did.

He saw this Oreo Spider Cake while I was surfing the web one day and told me that he wanted that for his birthday cake.  So I ATTEMPTED to come close to making a cake that resembled it.
I made cut out some spiders with my Cricut and strung them onto fishing line then hung them in the entrance to our kitchen.  My boys loved it.
I made this banner with my Cricut as well and used some more spiders.
Here is a party hat I made for my birthday boy.  I cut of the ring part of a plastic ring spider and used glue dots to stick them to the hat.
I did the same thing to the other hats for our party guests.  I put purple spiders on the hats for the girls and we had a couple of babies so I made them smaller hats.
I used black and white paper plates, cups, and napkins.  I didn't get a picture of it, but my son also wanted to play a pin the leg on the spider game so we did that.  It was a lot of fun.  Although, it did look rather strange next to all of our Christmas decorations.  I guess he should have been an October baby.

"On The Go" First Birthday Party

For my little guy's first birthday last week I decided to do an "On the Go" theme featuring trucks, planes, boats, and trains.  I thought it worked well with a first birthday since they are getting to be quite mobile and always are on the go around that age.
Here is the table with all the little goodies.  I put a picture of him the day he was born up to by the cups.  They grow so quickly.  Sniff, sniff...
Here is a close up of the decorations I put on the wall using my Cricut Machine. (love that thing!)
My oldest loves party hats so I made these hats for them to wear.  You can read my post about them here.
I decided to do something I hadn't done before and make cupcakes instead of a cake.  I used my Cricut Machine to make these as well.  It was a lot of fun.  The transportation was all from the New Arrival Cartridge.

Here are my boys in the airplane shirts I made for them.  You can find out more about these shirts here. Oh, and of course they are sporting their party hats.
I also did this little subway art and framed it and put it on the table.  It was a lot of fun to do as well.
Here is a my sweet birthday boy!  I love him so much.  We had a great first birthday celebration!

Party Hats

My youngest son's first birthday is this week so I thought I'd share some of the things I've put together to help celebrate.
My oldest son loves party hats and so I decided instead of buying some ugly ones from the store. I would try making my own.  I found a party hat template by doing a general search.  Here are the three party hats.
I decided to make the Birthday Boy's hat a little different from the other two.
Here are the hats for the other two boys.
I punched a small hole on each side of the hat put an eyelet in the hole to make it more secure.  Then I took strings from some old store bought hats I had and used them on our homemade ones.

Another fun thing for a party might be to make the hats and let the children decorate their own hat.
