Leaf Preschool Theme

 Leaves are a fun topic this time of year with them changing colors and falling off the tree!

We always enjoy going out and collecting leaves when we have this theme.  Here is our collection this year.  It is fun to sort them in many different ways; size, shape, color, and so on.

We also enjoy doing leaf rubbings.  My son did a good job all by himself this year.  If you put a leaf under the paper and use a crayon you can get this fun look.

 There are also several sources that have fun leaf activities.  Making Learning Fun has leaf and Fall activities like this counting one below.

 There are several free printable packs worth checking out.  I have used them all throughout the years.

My son wanted to make little leaf men so he glued googly eyes on some of his leaves and gave them mouths with a marker.

Leaf Preschool Theme

Today we talked about leaves.

We started off with a little nature walk on the look out for leaves that have turned colors and fallen to the ground.  It was a short field trip around the block because my little guy has a pretty bad cough right now, but we had a nice time just the same.

Here is one of many leaves we found while we were out.

Here is a fun fall leaf printable from Preschool Mom.  She has an entire collection of leaf activities.

We also have these fun leaf lacing cards that I made a while back.

Mess for Less had a cute idea for using Q-tips to paint Fall leaves onto trees.  My tree is pretty sad, but my son did a great job of using the different colors with the Q-Tips.

We also did some leaf rubbings.  My son was pretty fascinated by that.

Leaves

Leaves!  We did some lacing leaf lacing cards that I made a while back.  Just find a leaf template or draw your own if you have the talent for that.  Laminate, punch some holes and cut some yarn and you have yourself some lacing cards.  Easy and fun!

 This activity I made little rakes and attached a magnet, then I cut out leaves and attached magnets to them so that we could pretend to rake up leaves.

 Making Learning Fun has a ton of great leaf/fall activities.  I printed off these a few years ago and we use them every year.  This is a coloring sorting game.

 This is a sequencing game that is numbered 0-20.

 We did leaf rubbings as well with a leaf we found outside.

 I didn't realize how horribly fuzzy this picture is. Sorry about that.  This was  fun game though that I found in this huge Fall Math Pack.

Gratitude Leaves

I have been a horrible blogger.  I haven't blogged about our preschool adventures in over a week.  We've been doing stuff, I just haven't posted about it.

Last year we did these Gratitude Leaves to count our way to Thanksgiving.

We are doing it again this year.  I decided to make a little banner to go on the wall above all of our leaves.

I meant to post this earlier but I have been a slacker.  Anyway, the boys have fun with it.  My kindergartener is writing the things he is grateful for himself.  (my preschooler still write rather big to fit the words on the smalls leaves).  You could have them draw a picture though.

Fall/Leaves

We finished reviewing the letters of the alphabet yesterday.  We will be reviewing in a few more times throughout the year. 

Today however, we talked a little about Fall.  In particular we talked about leaves.  We did several activities from Homeschool Creation's Fall Fun Preschool Pack.  Check it out.  It's got a lot of fun activities!  She has other great preschool packs too, by the way. 

We did a couple of different painting leaf projects.  The first one was with fingerpaint.  My son just put some paint on his fingertip and then pressed his finger onto a paper and they kind of looked like leaves.

 We also tried this idea I found at Teach Preschool using egg cartons to make leaves.

 Then we went outside and looked around for different leaves.  We brought some inside and did leaf rubbings with them.  You just stick a leaf under a piece of paper and rub a crayon across the paper and the leaf appears.  Fun and easy.

The day must have been successful enough because when my son told his older brother about it (my kindergartener) he decided he needed to do all of these activities this afternoon.  :)
