How the Grinch Stole Christmas Preschool Theme

Today we read "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" by Dr. Seuss.

After we read the book we did a few Grinchy activities.

This is a freebie for a little bit older than my guy, but looks fun here.

Naturally my son wanted to paint his Grinch.

Then I cut it out for him.

We made Grinch Crinkle Cookies. My son enjoyed helping.  He put the cookie dough in the powdered sugar and thought that was great fun.

My cookies don't look very green because I was really low on green food coloring.

We also watched the cartoon of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".  After that we took turns hiding the Grinch around the house and having the other person find him.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

Today we read "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" by Dr. Seuss.  We also watched the cartoon. My son loves this book and has read it to me a couple of times now this year which is a fun switch for me and good reading practice for him.

My son did several Grinch activities.  There are several here and I also found a pattern one here.

I wasn't feeling that great so that is all we managed to do today.  However, we did several other activities that go with book last year.  Check out my post here. 

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

Today we read "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" by Dr. Seuss.  After reading the book I asked my son if we would still have Christmas if we didn't get presents?  He decided that we could have Christmas still because we are celebrating Jesus' birthday.  We also talked a little about giving and receiving gifts.  I told him that we give gifts to show our love for other people and for Jesus.  People give us gifts for the same reason and we should show gratitude by saying thank you when we receive gifts.

 We did these fun activities that I found from Pottery Barn Kids Design Studio.

 He colored and cut out these Grinch Christmas ornaments to hand on the tree.

 He colored this maze and then used his finger to help the Grinch through the maze.

He colored this Grinch mask (he wanted it blue).  I cut this out for him.

 For the activity above I just made a copy of a picture straight out of the book.  Then I had my son tear pieces of green paper and glue them onto the Grinch so that it looked like fur.

I found this Grinch Cookie recipe and decided we better try them out.
