Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett

I've been reading this story and doing activities with my oldest since he was 2 so now he expects to do it around Christmas time.  Good thing I think it is fun.  You can see my post of what we did last year here
Gathering Time:
Read “Gingerbread Baby” by Jan Brett
Sequence events that happen in the story (felt board pieces)
Sing “Ten Little Gingerbread Babies”
Watch Jan Brett video #1, video #2
Go on a hunt for missing Gingerbread Baby
Focus Activities:
Make gingerbread house (I can never decide if it is better to do a graham cracker house or an actual gingerbread house.  The gingerbread house won this year.)
Make gingerbread ornaments and decorate (1 ½ cups of cinnamon, 1 cup of applesauce, 1/3 cup of glue Mix ingredients together then roll it out and cut out shapes.  It takes up to 24 hours to dry)
Make gingerbread cookies and decorate
Other Possibilities:
Gingerbread count matching game

We love that story and my kids have been discovering her other books. All very fun, they love to look at the pictures even as old as they are getting.

Visiting from Show and Tell...my son just loves gingerbread things. I love your gingerbread activities. I printed out the matching game to play with!

Love the matching cards. :) And the counting too! Just subscribed to your blog by mail so I don't miss a thing in future! ;)
