Anyone out there ever plan and organize and get things ready for a preschool day only to have your preschooler not want anything to do with the theme you have ready to go? Yep, that was today.
Instead of giving up I was determined to show him how fun it could be. There are so many great ideas for
Farm Themes out there and talking about different farm animals can be great fun.
I started by singing, "Old McDonald Had a Farm" I thought maybe using the different animal noises would get him interested. He listened quietly, but didn't join in.
We love books at our house so I offered to read him some books. Little did he know that the books went along with our theme. We read "Click,Clack, Moo. Cows That Type", "Cock-a-doodle-doo! Barnyard Hullabaloo" and "The Cow That Laid an Egg". Thankfully, he did enjoy that.
I pulled out all the farm themed activities I had and my son asked about this silhouette matching game I made a few years ago. He asked if he could do it. Hooray!
Then he saw this Color the Pig book and thought it looked fun. (She has an entire farm printable pack)
So he colored away (while he ate a snack...)
He also found this cutting activity from this Preschool Farm Pack. He is learning how to cute and has been enjoying using scissors.
He has really been enjoying stick puppets as well so when he saw these from this Farm Life Unit Study he got pretty excited.
There are some great printable packs out there that I have used in the passed I want to make sure I share. This one from Musings of Me.
2 Teaching Mommies always has great printables including their Farm pack.
This Reading Mama also has a huge printable pack worth checking out.
Here is another fun Farm Pack.
1+1+1=1 has some fun Farm printables.
Here are some cute printables that can be used for a flannel board.
Baby Einstein's Baby McDonald is a fun video to watch for introducing kids to farm themed things.
You can check out what we did a few years ago here.
Great farm unit! Love all those different printables, too.
