TOY REVIEW- Sort n' Learn Pelican

There is a great website ebeanstalk.com which is dedicated to selecting good and safe baby toys. It is a wonderful website. They need help from moms like me to help pick the toys. The toy they sent is called Sort n' Learn Pelican from Tiny Love. They make some great developmental toys.

The Sort n' Learn Pelican is for ages 6m-36m. I was a bit skeptical with the wide age range at first, but after we opened it and began to play I realize that it really could be used for that wide age span. My older son, who is 3 1/2 was having a great time helping his younger brother, who is 23 months old play with the toy.

I couldn't get the Pelican out of the box fast enough. My boys were so excited to play with it. No doubt, attracted to the vibrant colors. Once out of the box I quickly discovered that this was not just an ordinary sort n' play toy. You can choose to have it play a sound, name the color, or name the shape as it is dropped in the corresponding hole. Not only does it have sound, but you can choose from two different volumes and turn it off altogether when you are finished playing with it. There are three different languages to choose from (English, Spanish, and French). I think my son's favorite part about the toy is opening and closing it's mouth.

Each shape has a number on it and is a different colored. My son had a lot of fun helping me figuring out which number and color was on each shape and naming the shape itself. I loved that it incorporates all of these things. It made it very easy to naturally talk about shapes, colors, and numbers.

My children are not very careful with toys all the time and so when I buy toys, the durability of the toy is something I take into consideration. This toy looks very durable and sturdy. I think it will stand the test of time, even with my two boys around.

I've had this toy out all day and my children keep going back to play with it. My 23 month old loves to put all the shapes in and then say, "Again." I think this toy will get plenty of use. I would definitely buy it.

Looks like a fun toy, and sounds like a good way to get to try some new things.
