I have a weakness. I don't remember when the weakness started, but two things have made it worse. The first is being a preschool education graduate (I was required to take Children's Literature...darn) and second is of course, my children. Let's be honest though, when I go to the store and see a book that I love and tell my husband I think we should get it for my son, really what I am saying is that I really want that book it has nothing to do with my son. (He is just reaping benefits from his mother's weakness) I justify myself in saying that a book is a great investment, which I think it is. Rather than take a year listing all of my favorite children's picture books I thought I'd some of my favorite authors with just one of their book titles or series.
Dr Seuss- "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish (I Can Read It All by Myself)
Eric Carle- Very Hungry Caterpillar
Audrey Wood- Napping House
Karma Wilson- Bear Snores On
Annie Kubler (illustrator)- Ten Little Fingers (Board Books for Babies)
Mercer Meyer- Little Critter Series
Roger Hargreaves- Mr. Men and Little Miss Series
This is just a short list of some favorite authors. I'm sure I will post some more favorites at a later date. In the meantime what are some of your favorites?
Also, if you have a Hastings Store in your area and are interested I know our local one is doing a summer book program and have different unlimited coupons on children's books for each month of the summer. I believe June's is 20% off all children's books. July is something else. I'm sure you get the idea. Anyway, check out your Hastings and see if they are doing something like that too. Don't ask me why I know that, you don't need to know...

When my kids were little we liked all the Berenstein Bears books, and I still have them. Stephen's Grandma Jeppson was a school teacher and school librarian and she had lots of children's books around too, but Stephen was pretty little when we lived around here and probably doesn't remember that.
We love the Mr. Men and Little Miss series too.
There's also a book called "No David" by David Shannon that makes my kids laugh all the time!
I still love "The Poky Little Puppy" the most. I have like five copies of it. I guess I'm worried I won't find it some day.
Hi,
I found your blog from sugardoodle. Your Pizza Hut week is so cute!! My kids would love this.
I just thought I would share our favorite book with you- I ain't gonna paint no more by Karen Beaumont. My kids LOVE this book, and you can sing it if you'd rather!!!
Me again-
Just thought I'd share a quick little storytime we did with that book last week. We read it, then I drew people for my two kids and my four year old drew one for me. Then we went through the book again and painted our paper people like in the book. The kids really liked it :). Best part, it was quick & easy!
